He was killed in a hail of gunfire at point blank range in the early morning of December 13 while saying good bye to his wife at the doorstep of his home in Florencia. Abad, 36, was Director of Voz de la Selva, he was also affiliated Caracol a nationwide radio network, and taught journalism at the University of Florencia. He had been investigating the murder of a fellow radio journalist, brutally assassinated.

He was found dead of a gunshot to the head on May 23 near a highway in the southern state of Guerrero. The police reported that Bueno Leon also had his back broken. He was director of the weekly Siete Días, and had also served as press advisor of the state governor. Well Leon was one of seven journalists accused of defamation for publishing articles linking the former Mexican secretary of state, Rubén Robles Catalán, with the killing by police of a lawyer in 1995.

Five of July 2005 in Caracas (Venezuela) found the body of photographer Gustavo Acevedo, after the disappearance of eleven days. He died of a cerebral hemorrhage product of a severe trauma, the autopsy indicated.

He died on October 8 at a hospital in Bogota after several gunmen opened fire on his car on September 26 in the Caribbean city of Santa Marta. He had been campaigning for Congress. He was director of a radio station whose antennae had been destroyed during attacks with dynamite.
